Description
Vintage 1940’S Steel Gray Fedora in a quality wool fur felt that is very soft and shapeable . The crown is wrapped with a 1-1/16 inch silvery gray grosgrain ribbon band that matches the color of the felt.. The brim is also edged with the same grosgrain ribbon 1/2 inch wide.
There is a wind trolley button & cord attached that wraps around the crown as well. On windy days the button end can be secured through the buttonhole of a coat or jacket lapel to prevent the hat from flying down the street.
The label reads on the leather sweatband:

This Fedora is in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION, with some light general wear.. There is a bit of color variations in the felt and the grosgrain ribbon.. as can be seen in the photos.
The leather sweatband is in excellent condition, very soft and pliable. not dry at all, and well attached. There are a couple tiny dings in the sweatband edging, but nothing that couldn’t be touched up.
The brim is edged with a wider 1/2 inch sewn grosgrain ribbon.. a cool detail you don’t see in newer fedoras. The satin lining looks OK, with the center logo stained rather dark, making it hard to read the maker’s logo.
The little size tag is gone, however inside the sweatband it is stamped a 7-1/4. (see image)
